Hello, everybody.

I'm Dave, and I just decided that I want to start *relearning judo. I learned judo in Korea for 2 years when I was ten years old, but now as a college student, I want to start from the beginning.

Do you guys know any dojos in Buffalo, NY that are approved [wrong word] by the Kodokan?

I also need to buy a new Dobok or Ki. I was looking at some Mizuno double weaves.. What do you think?

I appreciate all comments. Thanks for your interest!

Dave

Hi Humility and welcome to the forum.
I would look into Kintora club, the instructors are great!
For the Gi (what is a Dobok?) the club members will be able to help (they certainly have club discount), a single weave, cheap Gi (Fuji, Mizuno) should be good for your first few years.

Kin Tora is a great club I worked out there for years and grew up with Nicky Rastelli as well the Marty and Tony Grisanti. You won't find a better club in Buffalo.

I'm sorry, I must be getting old................

I read this as "A Buffalo in a Dojo" and thought to myself "this must be an Americanism for a Bull in a China Shop"

I really must get my eyes tested again, I'm wearing dyslexic spectacles. laugh.gif

Thanks.

I just got in contact with Kintora dojo, and will be starting (kind-of) tomorrow.

By the way, should I get single weave or a soft double weave?

Again, Thanks.

Dave

A single weave is more than good enough for now. I hope you enjoy your training, Good Luck!

Yesterday was the first time in seven years to be in a dojo. KinTora was great. I met a lot of great people like Sensei Nick, Sensei Tony, and especially Sensei Eric Joseph. Sensei Eric taught me the five basic grappling/chokes. His instructions were clear, very humble, and very interesting. Later, I found out that he is known for his grappling. Thank you, Sensei Eric.

I can't wait 'til next Tuesday. It's seems so far from today!
