I think Bobby Lee not placing was probably the biggest suprise for me. What do you think?

I am surprised at how far Carrie has fallen regarding people's opinions. She is a heck of a fighter and been a multiple time champion at nationals and in Europe. I think the fact that she lost the spot on the pan am and world team is an upset.

I agree, but it didn't look like Carrie was on her A game this weekend.

BTW, Grace Ohashi has only been in judo for 3 years. I hate people like that!! biggrin.gif

How can he beat him three times in the finals if theres only one draw? laugh.gif

What happened to Lee? Did he just have a bad day?

Hawn beat St. Leger in the finals. Then beat him twice again in the race for the Pan Am/World's spot since St. Leger is the #1 -90 KG guy.

The biggest upset other than Hawn defeating St. Leger was Michael Eldred beating Chuck Jefferson. That one shocked me. Very impressed with the young Delpopolo as well. He was ON! Beating both Eldred and Cohen by Ippon.

I voted for Grace Ohashi, but Marina Lambert also did well. Being presented with her black belt right after the gold medal was cool, too.

The overall surprise for the women was the "ripple effect" in the 57, 63, 70, and 78 kg divisions because of ONE player! wow.gif In another country, where divisions are deeper, I don't think that would happen . .

Moving up to 90 Kg seems to have been a good move for Hawn. He looked strong, fit and sharp. I also heard that Garry was injured (shoulder)?
