Goals 2012

Icon 3 Comments
The new year is approaching real fast. 2011 has been a very trying year for the family and I. My aunt passed away, major injury to my lower back, chronic knee pain due to a torn LCL from last year, and a bruised ego has kept me from training at my full potential. My sensei has been ill off and on, but he is an inspiration to keep fighting, to keep perfecting my self, perfecting my art. I have grown fond of my Judo sensei's and I am soaking up as much knowledge and experience as I can in this short amount of time. I have dusted off the cobwebs on my tachi waza and have advanced pretty fast in my game despite my current physical limitations due to my injuries. I expect to be a 100% come next year. So let's talk about Goals.

My goal is to compete in every Judo tournament available in So Cal.
My goal is to compete at every available BJJ tournament available in San Diego.
My goal is to compete at the IBJJF Pan American games.
My goal is to win the IBJJF World Championships in my division.

Obstacles? Money, Dynamic Work Schedule.

Game Plan? Research tournament schedules beforehand and plan around them. Look for sponsorship amongst family, friends, work. Train for each tournament with a game plan in mine, in other words, Train with purpose.Attached Image

Good article. It's good to have a focus on goals. Mine are less structured--stay healthy and prepare for shodan test at camp this summer.

Staying healthy is huge! I'll pray for a Injury free year for us.

I am currently deployed so now I am setting goals for 2013.

This year has been decent. Despite a variety of injuries, I managed to earn my shodan in judo, and I won a small BJJ tournament in my weight class at purple belt.

Onto the next year.
