I was thinking the same thing . I sounds like some DBZ intensity level fighting judging by how crazy these guys are ( by the way I'm a big fan of both fighters ) .

As am I. Although I would root for Palhares. But it's a 51% 49% type of feeling.

I can't see Palhares doing a lot, either. A little (leg/foot lock) would suffice.

I see Lombard koing Toquinho, or Toquinho leglocking Lombard. Either way, wont be a long fight.

I thought ATT and BTT had an unspoken rule as to never fight eachother?? seeing how Ricardo Liborio is also a founder of BTT and THE FOUNDER of ATT???

Hopefully Jones and Evans broke that silly trend. Just out of curiosity. Would anybody here feel odd competing against someone from your own club in a tournament?

No. I've done it, and it wasn't odd (winning both matches may have helped, not sure if it was odd for him). I am fairly certain many on here have done so as well. however I was very slightly annoyed that in that tournament my FIRST match was against a guy from my club, even though people from other clubs were in my division as well.

the beauty of judo is that they become your opponent between the ref saying hajime, and saying ippon. but that does not mean they're ever your enemy unless you want them to be. and why would you ever want them to be?

Whole different ball game to mma fights due to the "intention to injure" component of striking and GnP in particular.

It's common to find at amateur where it's single round elimination tournament to have the brackets stuffed by guys meeting from the same club who won't fight each other, think the finals of combat Sambo where Fedor v Alex was a give up.

Doesn't seem to be an issue at local Judo but can be an issue where it's an important event. Noticed BJJ dudes crack it when they are bracketed from guys in their own club, but those comps cost slot of money and usually involve travel so I can understand.

Cheers

I dont like to fight teammates for several reasons. But as far as the UFC goes, Dana doesnt care about that. He would let two brothers fight if he has to.
