this is from the junior's team competition. I like the expressions of the girls in the background.

this is yours truly sporting the sign carried by the Iowa Cheering Section. Much thanks to the Southside Dojo for that one.

Once again, folks, it was a great tournament. The competition was excellent and nobody went unopposed, even in the 50-59 masters division. The kata competition was great, dividing the junior and adult competition and allowing everybody to see wonderful nage no kata and juno kata performances. The atmosphere of the tournament was the best I've ever experienced. Deb and the people at Southside really know how to put on an excellent event.

Forum member Patricia was at the tournament. Though she couldn't compete due to a knee injury, she brought her two sisters along. Once she's healthy, she and her sisters will be a formidable group. Patricia, hope your sisters had a good time. From the smiles, it looked like they enjoyed themselves. How did they do?

It's good to hear you had fun, even though Patricia was hurt. Nice pics. You'll have to ad yours to your bio page now.

Nice pictures! Seems to be a lot of cameraderie amongst the female Judoka.

Naw, I'm sure my monitor will be fine. It has my mug staring at it everyday afterall. Plus, it's always nice to have pics of people so you know who you're talking to. I'd kill to have one of Teddy posted up there. :big grin:

My sisters did great! Kerri didn't win many matches but she sure learned a lot!! Juliann won several and also learned many good things. She was floating on cloud nine all day and all the way home. We had an excellent time and i can't wait till next year!!

Congrats to you Stacy and to Andi on your promotions!! From what I saw they were well deserved!

I've attached the results and pool sheets incase any one is interested.

Glad to hear your sisters had such a great time. Both looked great, even when they had to play each other (no mercy with a smile?). Tell them congrats for me. Bet it was hard to be on the sidelines.

Thanks for the congrats. The promotions were completely unexpected, and very overdue for Andi.

We'll see you next year. Hopefully you and I will be playing :hap:

surgery went well. It'll be a while before I can put weight on it. :sad(
Still, all things being equal, it was a wonderful weekend, and I can't wait to get back to it, and next year's tournament around November 4, 2007.

You had to have surgery on it??? I thought it wasn't anything major! What was the prognosis?

Surgery! Hope you heal up soon. In the meantime, work on chokes. That is why my matwork is so wicked. I spent so much time after knee surgeries unable to stand.

I loved those pictures. Thanks for posting them. Please ask Andi to email me if she is interested in coming to so Cal for the USJA nationals. She was very impressive and anyone who thought heavyweight women don't have technique just needed to watch her. She is a very smart judo player as well. You're a good coach.

Southside and the All Women's Tournament offered more than just competition. Besides the wonderful venue, camaradarie, and all of the other intangibles, the tournament directors offered a bunch of clinics. I've published some of the pictures on my blog, and here is a sample:
