Hopefully someone can gove me some advice here. LAst few days my ears have been hurting I just thought there must be a spot in them. Today at judo someone points out the start of Cauliflower ear :(

Sure enough I check when I get home and the inside section of my ear has thickened up  So have section around the outside.

Can i get something done for this?

Ice. Go to the doctor and get them drained. That's about it.

Ice. then get them punctured and drained fast. if its bad, wear wrestling type headgear for a few weeks.

Cheers,

Christian

The cauliflower ear(s) is something that I have battled for years, much to my wife's displeasure. I have tried everything, and found two things that work best for me. Tape your ears like a rugby player, this works great but gets expensive due to the amount of tape.

I recently got a "judo" headgear from KWON, and have been very happy with it, though it is hot. Unlike wrestling headgear the judo stuff stays on better due to its design, but give a little less ear protection.

Finally, the headgear is to appease the wife, I am not one of the guys that thinks they are "badges of honor," but it is a by-prodcut of the sport. It sounds like my ears are further along than yours, so good luck at the doctor.

Avoid using raw power to get out of head-holds and you will find them rare.

WEll the doctor said he cannot do anything....great help - but I have had many problems with him in the past so kind of expected it.

He said I could try going to casulty put as this is not life threatening it seems overkill.

Anyone got some ideas where I can get them drained?

Most doctors will drain it for you. If your doc won't, go to a new one.

wear your flaw with pride.
I've heard that if you step on a badger, he'll keep going after your shoe until the only recourse is to take off your shoe and give it to him. I've given RITF a couple of shoes. -yoda.

Get it drained ASAP. The fluid that fills that area contains calcium. Over time and with repeated irritation, it will swell again, and, eventually, the calcium will harden, as it always does. I have one of these, didn't get it drained, decided to "tough it out" and now, today, my left earhole is about 1/8th the size of my right. Using earbud headphones is totally impossible, and my hearing, due to the decreased opening in that ear is slightly compromised (why I turn my left ear in my wife's direction most of the time, but I digress.... ;) ) If your MD won't drain it, find one who will.

I was wondering if any of you have experience in the UK with this?

I am gonna try and get hold of a mates Dad that is a doctor and maybe he knows where I can get this done.

What kind of time frame is there for this to be done too? Is it a simple procedure as I have a comp on Sunday too.

The procedure itself ist simple, but it will take some time before the touch and pain sensitivity of your ear is back to normal. So for your upcoming competition, tape it up "lobotomy patient style", i.e. like a rugby player...
